Peru 2005

Later this month I will make my way to Lima Peru along with my wife and daughter and 200+ other people from our church. We have a sister church in Callao, Peru. I am part of a music team that will sing praise songs in Spanish. Krista and Abby are part of a children's ministry team that will do clowning, puppets, and music. There are other teams too, a student team, a medical team, prayer teams, and other folks doing many different jobs. We will be going to prisons, parks, orphanages, and other venues to share our music and to share Jesus with the people of Peru.

I have been to Lima twice before, in 1999 and 2001. It is a real joy to go and share Christ, as many respond to the message, and to support the ministry of our sister church there. I will post some pictures when I return.

blogging is fun

And it is fun, but also tough to keep up with. I realized I only posted once during the entire month of May, and not yet in June. The school year has gone by and now we are in our summer schedule. Abby has completed another year of dance and will soon complete piano as well as the recital is but days away. She is moving on to sixth grade next year, her last year in the elementary school. Gabe finished second grade. His summer has included two different golf classes at Edinburgh USA in Brooklyn Park. He really enjoys golf and seems to like these lessons. Last week was vacation Bible school, or VBS at church. This is a big week for the kids. Our large church does VBS in a big way with a big drama production every day and crafts and games as well. About 1200 kids attended this year. I was in charge of Public Safety, which means I keep the kids from getting into things they should not and steering them back to their groups should they wander. We had no major problems and that was a blessing for me and my team. The church staff coupled with about 400 volunteers made this great week happen for the kids. It was a safari theme this year and many kids dressed up in safari garb and used stuffed jungle animals to accent the attire. Our senior Pastor and two other Pastors worked in the recreation area leading games each day dressed in grass skirts, a sight to see. My kids are getting older, and that is a good thing. I have loved each step of their lives, and look forward to these next challenges. I am grateful that they have so many wonderful people that love them. They have family, friends, church folks, and school teachers that have all contributed so much to their lives.

Star Wars Episode III

The four of us went and saw this movie this afternoon. I think it was pretty good. It did a good job of connecting the new movies with the old ones. I had heard some complaints that it was more violent than the others, but I didn't think so. It is certainly a bit darker since you see the transformation of Annikin to Darth Vader, with the betrayal that goes with that. This is a good series of movies, as long as you accept them for what they are.

Toula training

So far Toula is doing great. Being at home with her is a good thing as I am able to spend time with her training her to go outside. There have been mistakes of course but she is learning I hope. She liked going outside more when it was warmer, but this chilly air makes her want to go back in.

She had her first vet appointment here today and behaved herself there. She gets some kind of a booster next week. She does have a microchip identifier already, so they scanned that to be sure it works and matches the number they gave us.
